There is alittle confusion about Martha J. Brown and [1832-1876] William H. O'Bryant [1840-1912] and the connection to Middleton A. Marett [1825-1864]. I know that on her head stone, it says that she was also the wife of William H. O'Bryant. According to the Marett (Marrett) website on Rootsweb, the person states that Middleton and Martha were married in 1859 and that Martha and Middleton's first son, Benjamin Jefferson Marett was born October 06, 1860 in South Carolina and died July 13, 1930 in Oconee County, South Carolina and their daughter, Effie Caroline Marett was born in 1862 in South Carolina and died unknown.
Martha's 2nd marriage to William H. O'Bryant, and they had the following:
1.William Asberry O'Bryant [1867-1947]
2. Mary O'Bryant [1868-?]
3. Tugalo Knox O'Bryant [1874-1963]
4. Lettie O'Bryant [1875-1926]
5. Martha O'Bryant [1878-?]
6. Roxie O'Bryant [1884-1920]
So if you follow this information, that means that Martha and Middleton divorced after their daughter, Effie Caroline was born and then married William H. O'Bryant and then in 1885, William married Susan M. Marret [1853-1911] and they had a daughter Icey B. O'Bryant [1887-1911], also if this information is correct, that means that William and Martha divorced after my great grandmother, Roxie was born in 1884.
Maybe someone can help me understand this?
